In the present study, the localization of the heat shock proteins DnaK and GroEL in normal and heat shocked cells of Vibrio cholerae, was investigated both by immunogold labeling of ultrathin sections and biochemical methods. Much of the DnaK was found to be localized at the inner membrane in unstressed cells, most probably at the Bayer's adhesion sites. Data suggested that upon heat shock, the DnaK associated with the membrane continued to remain there, but the newly synthesized DnaK appeared mostly in the cytoplasm. GroEL in both stressed and unstressed cells was found mainly in the cytoplasm. date: 1999-03-15 date_type: published publication: FEMS microbiology letters volume: 172 number: 2 publisher: Elsevier Science pagerange: 165-71 refereed: TRUE issn: 0378-1097 official_url: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1574-6968.1999.tb13465.x/pdf related_url_url: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1574-6968.1999.tb13465.x/pdf related_url_type: pub citation: Jyot, J and Gautam, J K and Raje, Manoj and Ghosh, A (1999) Localization of DnaK and GroEL in Vibrio cholerae.
