TY - JOUR ID - open765 UR - http://crdd.osdd.net/open/765/ IS - 4 A1 - Patnaik, P R Y1 - 1997/// N2 - Principal component analysis (PCA) has been applied to the fed-batch fermentative production of recombinant beta-galactosidase to analyse the effect of inflow disturbances. Although the full model has nine time-dependent variables, PCA shows that five are sufficient to provide a good description of bioreactor dynamics for bath smooth and disturbed operations. The variables identified are physically plausible, and the reduced model predicts the original data with 95 % accuracy.
