"The usefulness of the extended Kalman filter (EKF) as\r\nan on-line estimator of process variables is known for\r\nmonotonic laboratory-scale fermentations. However,\r\nthis has not been tested for oscillating cultures under\r\nnon-ideal conditions representative of large bioreactors.\r\nSo, in this study an EKF was applied for on-line\r\nfiltering of simulated data of an oscillating continuous\r\nSaccharomyces cerevisiae culture with inflow and measurement\r\nnoise.
