Introduction

Rhodococcus imtechensis RKJ300 (MTCC 7085) is a gram-positive actinobacterium, isolated from pesticide-contaminated soil in Punjab, India, by enrichment technique on minimal medium containing 4-nitrophenol. This strain is known to utilize 4-nitrophenol, 2-chloro-4-nitrophenol and 2,4-dinitrophenol as sole source of carbon and energy.
Strain RKJ300 uses both oxidative and reductive catabolic mechanisms for initial transformation of these compounds. Due to its role in biodegradation, the strain RKJ300 was selected for whole-genome sequencing and annotation.
We have completely annotated the genome of strain RKJ300 and found various genes involved in the catabolism of several xenobiotic compounds. Genes involved in the catabolism of several biomolecules like Cholate, Vanillin and Lipids were also identified.
In addition to this, important genes involved in the metabolism of various storage compounds like triacylglycerols (TAG), wax esters, polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), glycogen and polyphosphate (PolyP) have also been identified.
Here, we are providing whole genome assembly and annotation results of Rhodococcus imtechensis RKJ300. We have also compared the annotation of RKJ300 with closely related strains i.e. Rhodococcus sp. M213, Rhodococcus jostii RHA1, Rhodococcus opacus PD630 and Rhodococcus sp. JVH1. For scientific community, all types of analyses data is available at this platform. User can also perform BLAST with genomic Contigs, genes and protein sequences of Rhodococcus imtechensis RKJ300.
