  • Micro RNAs (miRNAs) are conserved small non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression at transcriptional and post-transcriptional level.

  • VIRmiRNA is the first dedicated resource on experimental viral miRNA and their targets.

  • It has three sub databases amassing 9133 records:
    1) Experimental viral miRNAs- There are 1308 miRNA entries encoded by 44 viruses.
    2) Experimental viral miRNA Targets- There are 7283 viral miRNA target entries of 15 viruses.
    3) Experimental antiviral miRNAs- There are 542 antiviral miRNA targeting different processes of 24 viruses.

  • User-friendly interface with browse, search and advanced search options.

  • Analysis tools for predicting miRNA target genes and checking miRNA seed conservation amongst viral and cellular miRNAs.

  • This viral miRNA resource may be useful for understanding host-virus interactions and identification of novel targets for the development of antiviral therapeutics.
