Abstract

An extracellular carboxymethylcellulase (endo-1,4--glucanase) fromCurvularia lunata, grown at 30°C with an initial pH of 6.0, had optimal activity at pH 4.8 and 50°C. The enzyme was unstable above 50°C. The enzyme had aK m for carboxymethylcellulose of 0.97 g/l and aV max of 5.4 IU/ml.
