Arthrobacter sp. SJCon

We report 4.39-Mb draft genome draft of 2-chloro-4-Nitrophenol degrading bacterium Arthrobacter sp. SJCon, isolated from a pesticide-contaminated site. The draft genome sequence strain SJCon will be helpful in studying the genetic pathways involved in the degradation of the several aromatic compounds.

Genome sequencing

The genome of strain Arthrobacter sp. SJCon was sequenced using Ion torrent technology at CSIR-IMTECH, produced a total of 2,234,522 reads of average length 147.6 nt with a coverage of 82.47X.
Newbler assembler version 2.5.3(Roche's) have been used to assemble all reads at default parameters. A total of 142 contigs of >500 bp length were constructed, with an N50 of 63.6 Kb; the largest contig assembled measured 143.0 kb. Final genome draft consists of 4,389,620 bp have been used for genome annotation by RAST (Rapid Annotation using Subsystem Technology) system, RNAmmer 1.2 and Aragorn software.

Genome annotation

Genome annotation was done by RAST server, ARAGORN and RNAmmer 1.2 softwares.
